Job Description

We provide development services to the NHS. We use Microsoft tools such as Visual Studio, IIS 7/8, Windows server 2010/12 and SQL. Using ************* we build database driven web based applications and other tools. We develop using LAMP technologies, Linux, Apache webserver, MYSQL and PHP.

We also design and build websites, with content management systems such as Drupal, Joomla and WordPress. To do this we use Adobe design suite tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator. In addition we provide multimedia services and use Adobe Premiere Pro CC for post-production work.

Responsibilities of the IT Software Apprentice

- To assist in providing web development and software development services.
- To assist in providing website visual design and software visual design services.
- To assist with the creation of wireframe layouts and mood boards, supporting the wider team in delivering them to clients and receiving feedback and reworking as required.
- To assist with the technical build of websites and software applications, delivering them to clients and receiving feedback and reworking as required.
- To assist with ensuring supported web sites reflect the current requirements of NHS web design guidelines, W3C (WAI) accessibility guidelines, and the legal UK Cookie law: Privacy and electronic Communications Act (PECR)
- To assist with managing contracted out-sourced websites where required, including troubleshooting problems via appropriate helpdesks.
- To assist with expanding our web development and software services through supporting the development of new business.

Requirements of the IT Software Apprentice

- Knowledge of web languages, such as 'html', ********', 'JavaScript'
- Knowledge of cascading style sheets. (CSS)
- Knowledge of common web development software such as, 'Microsoft Visual studio', 'FileZilla', Google Chrome.
- Knowledge of 'Adobe Photoshop' and associated Adobe suite products.
- Satisfactory level of general IT skills, including an understanding of Microsoft Office.
- Can communicate with others, in person, by telephone, via video conference calling and email.
- Can work both independently and as part of a team.
- Minimum of 7 GCSE's (grade C and above) or equivalent including Maths and English
