This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual to develop their career working as Helpdesk technician for an exciting and vibrant Woking based organisation. As part of a Advanced Level 3 IT Apprenticeship, youll gain hands-on experience, industry recognised training whilst earning a competitive salary.

Who youll work for:

The employer is a Microsoft Small Business Specialist based in South East London and Sheffield who specialise in the installation and maintenance of Microsoft servers, desktops, laptops and networks, including Windows Small Business Server 2003. With over a decade of experience managing small networks, they are a highly specialized IT Consultancy.

Due to continued growth, they are hiring an Apprentice Helpdesk Technician to join their Woking office. The role will be part of an apprenticeship scheme which includes a broad, cross functional training programme and Personal Development Plan (PDP). As an Apprentice Helpdesk Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conveying complex technical information in plain English or at the appropriate level to the client.
  • Use knowledge and logic to deal with complex technical problems that are difficult to resolve, and know when to pass on to 2nd or 3rd line technicians.
  • Understand and assist in the installation and maintenance of Microsoft servers, desktops, laptops and networks.

What experience and skills do I need?

You will be logical, driven and possess a passion for all things IT. You will be able to balance many demands in a fun and support environment. Although all are desirable; consideration will be given to those who have some but not all of the following:

  • Understands the basic principles of networking, protocols and associated technologies such as: OSI layer model, IP, TCP/IP, routing and switching, WANs, LANs)
  • Understands the architecture of a typical business IT system, including hardware, OS, server, virtualisation and applications
  • Understands and operates effectively in the business environment and responds to business issues
  • At least five GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above including Maths, English and either IT or Science.
