Apprentice Health and Social Care

Temporary for 12 months, - (with progression opportunities available for successful candidates)

Full Time (37.5 hpw) Pro Rata

Salary £4.05 to £7.50 per hour, depending on age (this is reflective of NMW)

About the Apprenticeship Programme

Home Group's apprenticeship programme is open only to Home Group and Stonham customers and clients. Due to the nature of the service applicants must be aged 18 years and over.

Benefits of the programme include a wage that is higher than the national apprenticeship minimum wage and the opportunity to earn while you learn and complete a range of nationally recognised qualifications that relate to your job role. Our apprenticeships are initially employed at level two for a 12 month period. Those who succeed on level two may have the chance to progress onto a level three apprenticeship. The good news is that the majority of our apprentices go on to enjoy permanent roles within Home Group when their apprenticeship ends. So, this really could be the start of an exciting and rewarding career.

About the role

A Health and Social Care apprentice with Home Group will support a team of colleagues to help our clients successfully achieve the outcomes outlined in their own individual support plans.

Your role can include providing clients with a 'helping hand' and assisting with some tasks to develop and maintain basic life skills and live independently. You will also assists other colleagues to provide a wide range of support to the service that you work in.

During the apprenticeship you will gain experience in all aspects of the role and will be provided with on the job training along with studying for a relevant professional qualification (NVQ Certificate Level 2 or equivalent).

You will join our East Ipswich Mental Health Cluster which comprises of 5 Supported Housing Services, a Respite Service, an Admission Prevention Service and a Community Recovery Service. We support adults who have a diagnosis of severe and enduring mental health conditions, who may also have substance misuse issues and/or a mild learning disability. We work very closely with the Mental Health Integrated Delivery Teams, Adult Social Care Services, Acute Services, Forensic Services & other key agencies. Our services also provide an out of hours on call system to support colleagues / clients in the event of an emergency.

Felixstowe Rd: is a 24/7 service where we support 8 clients within a shared communal home to develop and build upon the skills they require to be able to move onto less supported or independent accommodation in the future.

Robson House: has 8 flats, two of which are able to be shared. Staff are available on site 7 days a week from approximately 9am to 6pm, depending upon the needs of the service users.

Community Recovery Service: We provide community support to clients living in their own homes. Clients receive an agreed amount of support each week, dependent upon their assessed needs. Support for this service is based at either of the above sites depending upon the clients' geographical location.

The successful applicant would be expected to work Monday to Friday 9-5, but may be required to work occasional weekends to support client activities.

Ideally you will have good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and basic Microsoft Office Skills as you will work as part of a team, but must be able to work alone and use your initiative. You will be able to prioritise and manage your work load, whilst maintaining an accurate eye for detail.
